The DC Extended Universe Gets Its Own Kevin Feige (And It’s Not Zack Snyder)

There’s a new sheriff in charge of the DC Cinematic Universe, and it’s actually two! But it’s not two kids in a trench coat… and we’re explaining it all on today’s Nerdist News. Not too long ago, we speculated on who might replace

Not too long ago, we speculated on who might replace Zack Snyder as the Creative Head of the DCEU. Unlike Marvel, DC hasn’t had a Kevin Feige of their very own, someone to keep the universe consistent and shape its future. This meant Snyder had to direct AND take on these duties, and since Batman v Superman: Dong of Justin got a lukewarm-at-best response, changes are afoot! According to a The Hollywood Reporter exclusive, Zack Snyder is no longer the engineer of the look and feel of the DCEU. Starting now, that title will go to Jon Berg and Geoff Johns!

So you might be asking yourself, who the heck are these dudes? Well, Johns is DC Comic’s Chief Creative Officer. Most recently he’s been doing rewrites for the Suicide Squad reshoots, and oh yeah, writing the next Batman movie with Ben Affleck. That ol’ thing. Berg, on the other hand, is Executive Vice President at Warner Bros, and has been working on all the announced DC films like Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman.

But what exactly does that mean for the DCEU? Well, honestly this doesn’t necessarily mean a massive change in the way the DCEU will operate since Berg and Johns have already had a hand in the DC films we know and sometimes love. If anything, it’s probably a re-tooling of the DC chain of command, so while DC plans to stay “filmmaker-driven,” there’s now going to be a little bit more oversight to make sure everything fits the same creative vision. This also just might mean that Zack Snyder will be done after Justice League–which apparently won’t carry the dark tone of BvS. And finally, with more comic veterans in the house, it seems that Warner Bros. is listening to the fans.

But what do you guys think? Do you think this next round of DC films will align with fan hopes and dreams? How many Mother Boxes does it take to equal a single Infinity Gauntlet? Let’s discuss in the comments.
