THE DAN CAVE: Must-Watch Anime for Winter 2015

Welcome to The Dan Cave! Have you been hitting the gym? You must be awfully resolute because you’re looking great.

With a new year comes a whole new crop of anime, which is good news for those of us who spent the holiday break binge-watching every last episode of shows like Attack on Titan, Sailor Moon Crystal, and Sword Art Online. Fortunately, there’s a whole slew of new shows right around the corner and because we live in the future, you’ll be able to simulcast most of them on sites like FUNimation and Crunchyroll! Oh, what a time to be an otaku.

Still, like any genre, choosing the right anime to watch can be an often Sisyphean task. Lucky for you, this is The Dan Cave and I’ve got your back. After poring over the slate of upcoming shows, I have assembled a list of five, count ’em, five must-watch series for winter 2015. What happens after that is up to you…well, you and the animation studios over in Japan.

What other anime series are you looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below or tell me on Twitter (@Osteoferocious) using the hashtag #TheDanCave!

Need some reading to do? Check out my breakdown of the top 10 comics of 2014 on last week’s show.

And a very special thanks to Ian A.A. Watson for making the awesome t-shirt I wore in today’s show. I really appreciate it, man. While mine is one-of-a-kind, you can purchase your very own The Dan Cave tee at the official Nerdist Store!

I’m old school and have been watching GitS: Arise on Netflix.  Still need to start watching Attack on Titan.  It has been patiently sitting in my queue for months.  And Eden of the East, if it’s still available.
    I’m a little backlogged.

  3. Can’t wait for A.Z Season 2 and for Akito the Exiled to finish (hopefully) later this year.

Because I am a (huge) fan of the Haruhi Suzumiya series, I am seriously looking forward to Nagato Yuki-Chan no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan). Unfortunately, it doesn’t premiere until April, so there’s a bit of a waiting game involved.

  6. Durarara!!×2 Shou it’s been a few years but Durarara is back.

Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! is a send up of the magical genre with magical boys instead and a talking wombat creature. First episode was pretty ridiculous.

  8. Rabbit says:

I, too, am looking forward to A.Z Season 2!

  9. Patrik says:

i am looking forward to the second season of Aldnoah.Zero

I think you could easily do an excellent adaptation of Lupin the III. Hollywood can do crime movies well and we have well endowed (American women) women. I just hope they represent samurai well in a theoretical movie. However, good music and a great plot would make it an excellent adaptation.
