With pilot season well under way, the next question for networks is: what shows are going to be sticking around for next season? Today, at least for The CW, we got some answers. In an announcement made this morning, the network has confirmed the renewal of fan favorite Arrow, as well as The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Reign & The Originals.
The renewal for Arrow comes as no surprise since the series spin-off for The Flash is already well underway, with various casting already confirmed.  The comic book drama is also one of the networkâs highest rated shows and places in the top ten in multiple international markets including being number one in Germany without a single sighting of The Hoff. That reason is also what keeps early renewals for Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals from being surprising. The more shocking one is a renewal for Reign, a series that struggled greatly to find its audience at the start of the season, but have since found some momentum as the plot started getting as bloody as history promised us it would.
This announcement doesnât bode well for The Tomorrow People though, as the series has yet to find stability in its ratings, despite the fact that it’s one of the top dramas currently airing on The CW. Regardless of the fate of shows like The Tomorrow People, itâs nice to see everyoneâs favorite dark horse network is already making plans to keep some of our favorite shows around. More Queen and Winchester adventures are not something anyone is going to be upset about, especially with the way this season has been going for all these shows (Deathstroke on Arrow, Caine on Supernatural, what’s not to love?).
Now if you really want to dream big, hope Flash does this well next year. Maybe it will pave the way for a whole CW/DC universe. I donât think anyone would mind that.
