The Curious Brian Grazer, More Matt Braunger, Fantastic Indoor Kids: The Week In Podcasts

It’s Friday already? Okay, then, time to recap what we had on the Nerdist Podcast Network this week, which included:

Producer Brian Grazer talked about the value of curiosity on the Nerdist Podcast. It’s a short one to promote Brian’s book A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life, but it’s a good one, with Brian, who’s produced a lot of great movies in his career, relating the things he’s learned from just plain asking questions of people, and the importance of feeling that you’re making a difference.

Our very own Ding-Donger, Matt Braunger, made his second appearance on the Nerdist Podcast to promote his brand-new Netflix special Big Dumb Animal, and the laughs were plentiful here, too, including riffs on the two movies called Crash, sexual attraction to inanimate objects (Airwolf beware), Letterman’s beard, Duckman, and some insight into the genesis of the material on the special. Oh, listen to Ding-Donger, why dontcha.

Coming Friday (production schedule permitting), Paul Bettany will be talking about being J.A.R.V.I.S. and the Vision on the Nerdist Podcast. The Blu-ray of Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out today, and he talks about a deleted scene you’ll find on there, plus marriage advice, American vs. British actors, and helping the homeless.

What else? Well, The Indoor Kids recapped Fantastic Fest, so they got to show off their range of pop culture interests, because Fantastic Fest is all about, well, everything, from movies to music and more.

Ravi Patel made a documentary about his family, Meet the Patels, and you met Ravi himself on You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes.

Hound Tall Discussion Series with Moshe Kasher took you to Burning Man with author Brian Doherty and comedians Natasha Leggero, Brent Weinbach, and Matt Kirshen.

Jessica brought you tales of Jack the Ripper on Bizarre States.

Lisa Kate David visited Janet on The JV Club to talk about life and love and cancer. Inspiring and funny.

From Cynic Cave in the basement of Lost Weekend Video in San Francisco, Terrified brought you more angst with Petey Dammit, Joey Devine, Natasha Muse, and Kaseem Bentley.

The Legacy Music Hour Mixtape series remixed the Hudson Soft episode.

Trainer Thomas Meek and Tom compared notes on another motivating Pro You Podcast.

Kurt’s wife Lauren Cook talked about her battle with Lyme disease on a very special episode of The K Ohle.

After a little bit of a hiatus, Cash and T.J. brought the madness back on Cashing In with T.J. Miller, recorded live at JFL Toronto.

Lemme’s wanted to do this for ages, and, finally, Kevin gave in, so this week’s Chewin’ It is just the guys shootin’ the breeze, chattin’ and chewin’ and spittin’ and slinging the BS. You know, the way friends do.

FOUR Comic Book Club episodes? Yes, we caught up with the guys on four brand-new episodes, featuring Dean Haspiel, Charles Soule, Jason Torres, and Swifty Lang, the last also the final episode to come from the gang’s longtime home at Fontana’s in Manhattan.

You missed some of them? HOW DARE YOU. But it’s always easy to catch up: just go to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage and the Nerdist Podcast Network Facebook page. It’s all there. You should be there, too.
