The Capitol Honors the Districts of Panem in MOCKINGJAY Promotion

Panem is in a precarious position. As we saw in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, rebellion against the Capitol and President Snow has begun. The citizens are tired of being relegated to their corners of the nation and weary of government control. They’re beginning to open their eyes and see the truth of how the world is really working. What would you do if you were in President Snow’s undoubtedly fancy shoes? You’d do anything to quell the the uprising. To promote The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, The Capitol’s website has been updated with a series of propaganda posters that look like they were designed by Snow.

The President is trying to unify the districts by reminding them of their necessity and value. The Capitol explains with words from Snow, “Today we celebrate the proud men and women who live and breath their districts. Today we are one Panem.” He is showing he appreciates the hard work of those who keep the Capitol supplied. He’s clever and so is the marketing team.

Each of the seven released posters highlights one person from Districts 12, 10, 9, 7, 6, 4, and 3. The heroes pose with equipment and symbols related to their Districts. For example, Lily of District 12 is featured in sooty clothing beside a miner’s helmet to represent the coal mining work of the District. Because the posters are issued by the Capitol, you have to wonder if they really feature residents from the Districts or just citizens of the Capitol in costumes.

Keep up with the latest releases from the Capitol at TheCapitol.pn. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will be in theaters on November 21, 2014.

Each one of them sparks something inside. So eerie, yet real… so beyond creepy, but fascinating.
