He may have found a joy in the small screen with The Blacklist and upcoming projects like NBCâs State of Affairs and TNTâs Fix-It Men, but first and foremost, Narc director Joe Carnahan is a filmmaker. Movies are in his blood, and while it may sometimes be a 12-round battle to the death for him to get the projects he wants made, nothingâs going to stop the man from being that which he has always set out to be. Knowing that, it comes as no surprise the director has signed on to helm Five Against a Bullet for Sony Pictures.
The news comes from Collider, who recently spoke with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura while he was making press rounds for this Fridayâs release of Transformers: Age of Extinction. According to the site, the famed producer stated the following: âJoe [Carnahan], we just put on a project called Five Against a Bullet, which Iâve loved for a long time. It is a tale of a group of men who have become cynical, sort of lost their sense of hope about life and the world, who are rekindled and betrayed and rekindled and betrayed in this story, and itâs got some of the coolest action and some of the greatest characters, and itâs a really fantastic action movie that I think will really grab people. And Joeâs working on it right now.â In regard to Carnahan re-writing the script, the producer added, âWe have a great script and no doubt heâll put a little pen to paper as well, but weâre already in great shape and Sony loves the project and no doubt weâll start trying to figure out how to cast that.â
So with three TV projects currently in the works, including the announced adaptation of Narc, in addition to his latest film, Stretch, which is currently waiting for a release date, it seems the Smokinâ Aces director is busier than heâs ever been — and thatâs a good thing because if thereâs one thing the world needs, itâs more Joe Carnahan films.
Now, if youâll excuse us, weâre gonna go watch The A-Team for the millionth time.
