The BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT Launch Trailer Paints a Grim Future for the Caped Crusader

If you didn’t know what you were getting yourself into with Batman: Arkham Knight and want to remain spoiler free until you’re finally able to get your hands on the game when it launches tomorrow, you might want to stay away from the game’s launch trailer. Sure, we knew the end was nigh for Rocksteady’s series, but the recently released video– which you can check out at the top of the page– shows just how dire Batman’s situation is in the fourth installment of the critically acclaimed Arkham series.

Thankfully, it is only the audio that gives any real indication of what’s next for Batman during the title. What you actually see during the video is Batman doing what he does best. He kicks some serious enemy butt, speeds around in the Batmobile–which is a new addition to the Rocksteady series–and peers out over the city he is trying to protect. We also see several shots of the rogue’s gallery including the likes of: The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two Face, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, and newcomer The Arkham Knight.

It’s worth mentioning that the trailer features Muse’s new tune “Mercy”, so If you want to tune out the spoilers, I’d recommend blasting the song while you check out the video.

**NOTE: POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW.**

It is Jim Gordon’s narration during the video however, that paints a darker future for Batman. After discussing the vigilante and what he stands for, Gordon’s remarks suggest that Batman will soon be out of the picture, and that the legend of him and what the people who knew of him will live on. At the very end of the video, he notes “This is how the Batman died”.

Of course, this doesn’t mean Bruce is going to literally “die”. I’m guessing the billionaire is just going to hang up the cowl and retire. It will definitely be interesting to see how Rocksteady handles whatever ends up happening to Batman. I think I’m more curious to see who’s behind the Arkham Knight mask, and what Joker’s absence means to the caped crusader.
