The Band Bassh Played a Gig at Our Airbnb during SXSW

We are very lucky we did not get a noise complaint filed against us for this one.

SXSW boasts a profusion of great live music that prompts you to leave your comfy hotel room and trudge through muddy streets so you can report to your friends that you saw certain acts before they blew up. While that is usually incentive enough to go out looking for music, sometimes it’s not. Sometimes laziness trumps all, and you have to convince bands to come to you—which is exactly what happened when the new band Bassh stopped by our Air BnB during SXSW’s music week in Austin, TX.

What was originally planned as an acoustic performance of the Nashville-based band’s extremely catchy song “Body” became an electric performance that made our small little rental abode shake. Gaming Editor Malik Forté was in the other room taking a nap, and I still feel a little bit guilty about the whole thing. Luckily, the trio sounded tight, so I imagine that when our video game editor was rudely awoken, he was at least pleased by the two part harmonies emanating like steam from the living room.

“Body” is a simple, great and soulful pop song that has been stuck in my head since I first heard it, so this was a real treat to have the guys come through and perform it for me in my living room. Highly recommend having bands over to perform in your house–definitely a SXSW experience Malik nor I will soon forget.

Matt Grosinger is the Music Editor of Nerdist. He loves music but is also hella lazy, so this worked out great.

Check out Bassh’s website for more jams like “Body.”
