Tesla’s Worldwide Storage Now Equivalent to 500 Million AAA Batteries

It’s easy to forget that Elon Musk isn’t all rockets, galas, and controversy. The CEO of Tesla has also been hard at work trying to prove that improved battery technology is one way we get closer to a better, more sustainable future. For example, since the island of Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, Tesla has been working to restore power to the island, and especially to critical systems like hospitals. See for yourself on today’s Muskwatch:

According to Musk, Tesla currently has ~11,000 battery and power projects underway on the island:

Adding these works to the largest battery system in the world—it’s about to weather its second Australian summer—Musk figures that the current global total of battery storage that Tesla has provided since 2015 is close to 1 gigawatt hour, the same as 500 million AAA batteries.

Also on the show this week, we have an update on the first interplanetary CubeSats, and Dan and I look for another billionaire to momentarily worship.
