Telltale’s THE WALKING DEAD: SEASON TWO

Either Telltale Games is keeping an unusually close eye on my Steam account activity or they’ve developed telepathic powers, because I was just replaying The Walking Dead: Season One on my flight back from New York last night and thinking, “Man alive! When, oh when, will we get a glimpse of The Walking Dead: Season Two?” Well, today the Ballad of Lee & Clementine continues, as Telltale unveils a teaser trailer, key art, several screenshots, and the cryptic release date of “Coming Soon,” which as we now know from The Wolf Among Us could mean, “Oh, hey, it’s coming out this Friday!”

Doesn’t that just send a tingle up your spine? It’s nice to see familiar locations like the Motor Inn and the St. John’s Dairy, but we want more, damn it! Telltale’s press release may shed some light on what to expect from the game thanks to a quote from Telltale co-founder and CEO Dan Connors:

“The terrifying nature of Robert Kirkman’s world has allowed Telltale to push the boundaries of interactive drama in video games to a place that has had fans anxious to know what will happen next in this series…. Today we can finally lift the veil, albeit only a little, on how this story will continue, and we’ll soon be putting players in the shoes of a lead role that will challenge their expectations of how to survive in a world where no one can be trusted.”

That last line in particular, coupled with the teaser trailer, leaves little doubt that we’ll be stepping into Clementine’s shoes for Season Two, which I find to be a bold, refreshing choice, especially after the intense bond players developed with her in Season One. For now, though, sate your appetite for intense moral quandaries and flesh-eating monsters with this gallery of screenshots:
