TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANTS IN MANHATTAN Gets a Release Date

The upcoming game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan from Platinum Games and Activision is on the way, and today we have a release date for you. The new game will hit shelves on May 24, 2016 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC—that’s just a little more than a week before the new film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows freaks us out with those turtle faces on June 3, 2016. The original release date for the game was later this summer, so we’re getting to hang with our pizza-eating buddies a bit earlier than expected.

IGN has posted a new trailer for the game, which we have for you right here. In it, we get a look at some familiar villains like Rocksteady, Krang, Karai, Armaggon, Super Shredder, and a typically full-of-himself Bebop. Did anyone else ever feel sorry for that guy? Poor thing is a hot mess. This will be, according to the official info, a third-person action game where the Heroes in a Half-Shell “protect the Big Apple from aliens, mutants and the Foot Clan in a single-player campaign or partner with up to three friends in four-player online co-op.”

The trailer is narrated by Splinter, who gives the turtles advice about mastering their fears and how they always fight better together than they do alone. You’ll be fighting on a floating platform, in an unfinished building, on a bridge, in an alley, a subway, and, of course, in a sewer, from what we see in the video. If you’re a fan of IDW’s ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic series, you’re in luck, The story is an original one from the author Tom Waltz.

We want to hear from you. Tweet me/us @JennaBusch/@Nerdist and let us know your thoughts. What do you guys think of the graphics for the game? Was the glimpse of Super Shredder enough of a tease for you? Are you excited for the new film or do those faces just mess with your dreams?
