TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Cartoon Voices Recreate SEINFELD’s “The Contest”

Seinfeld‘s infamous “The Contest” was all about testing the gang’s willpower, but that whole episode would have a very different feel if it was about teenagers and turtle (will)power. We know because we had the voice actors from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles recreate one of Seinfeld‘s most legendary scenes as the fearsome fighting team, and it sounds as weird as it is hilarious.

On the latest episode of our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons, host and voice of Raphael Rob Paulsen was joined by the other turtles from the classic animated series to read the scene from “The Contest” where George Costanza tells the rest of the group how his mother caught him… alone… with a Glamour magazine. That embarrassing story, and George’s declaration that he was never doing “that” again, led to one of the most famous bets in pop culture history.

So we had another beloved foursome from the ’80s and ’90s give voice to that moment. Paulsen read Jerry’s lines as the cool but rude Raphael, Townsend Coleman played George as his character Michelangelo, Cam Clarke’s Donatello filled in for Elaine, and Barry Gordon’s Donatello took on Kramer.

We have a feeling four teenage boys would have lost this bet faster than even Kramer, but now we’re going to need an entire episode parodying “The Contest” with the Ninja Turtles all trying to see who can go the longest without pizza.
