TEEN WOLF Recap: It’s Time to Get the Pack Back Together!

Don’t call it a comeback! Teen Wolf‘s main pack of supernatural friends has been disbanded for far too long, and Scott knows it. And after this week’s episode, he also knows the Dread Doctors have resurrected an old creature with only one goal: to kill. So his next move is to get all his friends back together to face what is going to be their toughest challenge yet. It was a long journey to get to that realization, but we have finally arrived! Let’s recap all the action from “Damnatio Memoriae,” shall we?

While keeping an eye on her, Hayden’s sister gave her well-deserved crap for disappearing for three days. “You could have been dead,” she said, which is a fair statement. Since Hayden, was, you know, actually dead. Looks like Hayden still hasn’t clued her in to all the supernatural events in Beacon Hills. But she might have to now, since she, her sister, and Liam—who was trying to finally get some answers from Hayden about her shocking resurrection—all accidentally came across the Beast of Gévaudan late one night. And this thing is massive. Think the Hulk meets Peter Hale in full Alpha mode. Yikes.

Parrish and Scott went investigating the next day at the crime scene, only to learn that the thing that attacked the cop and Hayden and Liam was a chimera. But the most frightening part is not its size or speed. It’s the fact that it just wants to kill for no reason. In order to try and figure out who/what this creature is, Scott tried to make a yarn chart, in Stiles style. Unfortunately for this Alpha, he’s not exactly arts and crafts-friendly. Watching him struggle? Hilarious.

However, watching Stiles freak out over his still-injured dad while he checked out the body of the boy his son killed? Not at all funny. The Stilinski family feels were all too real this week, folks. When Stilinski outright told Stiles that he has his back, and would destroy any shred of evidence that could potentially connect him to Donovan’s death? And that he would burn the whole sheriff station to the ground?! Tears. Chills. Ugh. This family! Stilinski also gave Stiles some sound and wise advice: If he can’t quite forgive himself for killing someone, maybe he can start by forgiving Scott for not being there to protect him. Baby steps!

When Scott reached out to Malia for help in figuring out what this new monster in town is, she flat out told him no. She’s planning something that he won’t like, and she knew that he won’t like her much after she does it. It was hard for him to hear, but he accepted her refusal and left … just in time for her and Braeden to get their hostage to talk about the Desert Wolf. Now they know she’s coming, and she’s got Deaton with her as her hostage. Something tells us we’re in for a big Desert Wolf/Malia showdown in the near future.

Meanwhile, Cody spent his day helping each of the chimeras in his new pack adjust to their new lives, while also proving that he’s their Alpha through threats and intimidation. It worked… except on Hayden, who continued her relationship with Liam despite them being in different, opposing packs. She also kept it a secret from Theo, but that’s sure to come out sooner rather than later.

Taking his father’s advice, Stiles reached out to Scott for help in figuring out where the new monster terrorizing Beacon Hills came from. They worked together and actually managed a few real sweet, bromantic moments. Sciles is slowly but surely on the mend! Man, have we missed this. They ended up tracking down where the monster came from, in tunnels underneath the town. But before they could go any further, they were attacked by Theo’s chimeras.

Theo intervened when it became clear that Scott was winning the fight (because of course), and he told Scott that they’re back on the same side now that this new Beast is in town. Scott didn’t want to hear that, but after Theo left, Scott and Stiles figured out that the Dread Doctors didn’t create a new creature—they resurrected an old one. But instead of immediately trusting Theo and going to team up with his pack, that rallied Scott to work with Stiles to bring their old pack back together, one by one. Starting with Kira. Yes!

While all that was going on, in Eichen House, Lydia continued to struggle to wake up from her comatose state. She started to get visions of the other banshee Meredith, who told her she can teach her how to use her voice as a weapon to help her friends. Finally!

But the most shocking moment from the night’s episode? When Papa Argent paid a surprise visit to Gerard, and actually brought him the cure he’s been needing all this time in exchange for his help. Turns out that Gerard knows exactly what the Beast of Gévaudan is, and he’s ready to tell the tale. This is going to be good.

What did you think of “Damnatio Memoriae,” Teen Wolf fans? It was an hour filled with exposition and heavy plot set-up, but something tells us that we’re going to have some good payoffs for this down the line.
