Team Up with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in THE NICE GUYS

We can’t put our finger on it, but there’s something massively appealing about setting a movie in the 1970s. Whatever the reason – be it the clothes, music, or overall aesthetic of the era –  movies set in the ’70s are usually pretty damn fun. Add to that the acting of stars like Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, and Kim Basinger and the result is something we absolutely cannot wait to see.

2016’s The Nice Guys – directed and co-written by Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) – is a mystery crime-comedy about a private eye (Gosling) as he uncovers a conspiracy while looking into the apparent suicide of a fading porn star in 1970s Los Angeles. Bolstering the cast are Matt Bomer (White Collar, Magic Mike), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers), and Keith David (The Thing and pretty much everything you’ve ever watched).

There’s something special about setting a crime-thriller-comedy-mystery in the ’70s other than the general look of it as well. The lack of technology forces the filmmakers to show old-school detective work instead of someone tucked behind a computer screen or finding answers on a cell phone which in turn gives us more of an adventure to watch. Seeing Crowe and Gosling play off each other so well in a comedic sense in this short trailer shows a lot of promise and we are beyond excited to see the film. We know that Black’s whole script will be quick-witted and the film will be especially fun to watch due to Philippe Rousselot’s cinematography (Sherlock Holmes, Big Fish, Constantine).

Warner Bros. is planning to release The Nice Guys May 20, 2016 which is too far away in our opinion.

What do you think of the trailer? Aren’t 70s crime films so much better? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
