Talking XBOX ONE X, STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2, and More from E3 2017

For gamers of all kinds, there may be no more exciting time of year than E3. This year’s Electronics Entertainment Expo serves as an especially thrilling outing for video game junkies, what with being the first in its line of conventions to open doors to the public. Setting up camp at the Los Angeles Convention Center and spreads its collection of events across this past weekend and the beginning of the week, E3 2017 has already shown off some promising prospects. We’re covering the lot on today’s episode of Nerdist News Talks Back, hosted by Jessica Chobot and featuring Dan Casey, Rob Manuel, and Amy Vorpahl.

Kicking off the convention with chutzpah, Microsoft hosted its press conference this past weekend, offering some new details on the Xbox One X. When the system hits in November, it will offer updated versions of existing favorites like Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2, and Minecraft. On the other hand, the Xbox One X doesn’t offer any exclusives at this time. What exclusives would you like to see accompany the system? And could this setback lose Microsoft the edge in its perpetual battle with Sony?

Bethesda led their press conference this weekend as well, announcing VR updates for Fallout 4 and Doom, as well as sequels to Wolfenstein, Dishonored, and The Evil Within. Furthermore, Skyrim will join forces with the Nintendo Switch, enlisting Amiibo support and other special features in the process.

Next up, we’re tearing into one of the hottest new titles to breach E3 2017: Star Wars Battlefront 2, which we’ve just gotten our first official look at. From what we can tell so far, Battlefront 2 looks like a big step up from its predecessor, what with the introduction of a single player campaign, plus free DLC. Does this bring you back on the Battlefront bandwagon?

Finally, we’ll dig into the announcement of Bioware’s new open world sci-fi game, Anthem, which follows groups of players charged with fending off alien invasion and protecting the inhabitants of their city.
