We all have our favorites across pop culture’s spread of enchanted locale. Some prefer Westeros. Others like Bespin. More still delight in good ol’ New York City. And how ’bout enchanted powers? Among us are those who wish we could employ Jedi mind tricks, those who’d love to warg, and some yet who just want to spray mucusy fibers from our wrists. No matter which of these categories you fall into, you’ll find something that piques your interest in today’s Nerdist News Talks Back. The latest installment of our show–led today by host Jessica Chobot, Nerdist Managing Editor Alicia Lutes, and Nerdist Senior Editor Dan Casey–carries out the heavy order of tackling three of the biggest pop culture entities running today: Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and Spider-Man.
First up, the new trailer for the forthcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones. As this is our first look at the string of episodes yet to come, we’re all bound to have some pretty expansive thoughts and excited feelings. For one thing, if this trailer does indicate anything, it’s that war is on the horizon. Shout out what you think is in store for our return to Westeros!
Next, we trade in direwolves for tauntauns–Vanity Fair released an expansive The Last Jedi cover story that revealed plenty of interesting info, not to mention a few choice pics, from behind the scenes of the latest Star Wars chapter. Jess, Alicia, and Dan dig into these new first looks at Laura Dern and Benicio del Toro, casino planet Canto Bight, and some other interesting tidbits.
And finally, we turn to the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Our main takeaway: Lots of tech! Oh, and the first appearance of your friend and ours, Donald Glover. Granted we still don’t know who he’s playing, but we’re pretty pumped over the notion of seeing him in a Spider-Man movie at all.
Any thoughts on Game of Thrones season seven, The Last Jedi, or Spider-Man: Homecoming? Let us know!
