Take a Free Ride in a DeLorean for BACK TO THE FUTURE DAY in New York

Roads? Where you’re going you don’t nee…no, wait, yes, you still do need roads. No flying cars yet. However, for some lucky people that won’t matter tomorrow, because the roads will be one more place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our favorite time traveling trilogy, Back to the Future.

Tomorrow in New York City, Lyft and Verizon, are bringing DeLoreans from around the country and offering free 20-minute rides to passengers to celebrate Doc Brown’s time machine during Back To The Future Day. Lyft users can go to the app and select “McFly Mode” for a chance to ride in the iconic car.

With no announced number of DeLoreans, it might not be easy to get one of the rides, especially since the promotion will only run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just go back in time using the DeLoreans and make sure everyone gets a ride, but it’s probably an insurance thing/don’t want to screw up the space-time continuum.)

The DeLorean rides are part of Verizon’s #WhyNotWednesday promotion, where they give “customers a chance to sample the best of the digital world.” This promo is pretty cool, so I think we’ll give them a pass on the logistics for this one.

Are you in New York City? If so, let us know if you had any success getting a ride, and make sure to take pictures and send them in to us.
