SUPERNATURAL S12 Promo, Katee Sackhoff Back in STAR WARS, and More TV News

Mornings are for coffee and contemplation and maybe also catching up on the latest television news. If you’ve been neglecting the internet since Friday, it’s time to embrace it again with open arms and hug today’s TV-Cap. I have promos for Supernatural, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Legion, word about Katee Sackoff’s return to the Star Wars animated universe, and more.

Saving a Brother. The Winchesters will get back to the family business when Supernatural returns to The CW on October 13, and the first promo for season 12 shows Mary is wasting no time getting back to her hunter roots. Her and Dean are on a mission to save Sam. And yes, that is Rick Springfield. He’s playing rock star Vince Vincente, the new vessel for Lucifer. [TVLine]

Celebrate SPN. September 13 is Supernatural Day! Taking place on the 12 year anniversary of the debut of the drama, the day is all about fans showing their love for the series, the cast and crew, and their fellow fans. You can participate by using the #SupernaturalDay hashtag on social media to share pictures of “Possessed & Obsessed” temporary tattoos (pictured above), post pics of SPN cosplay or crafts, or talk about favorite moments. The CW and some cast and crew will be following the hashtag. Also! Hot Topic has a limited edition Supernatural Day t-shirt and is giving away a temporary tattoo with every Supernatural purchase. Whew. One more thing: the show will release a special message tomorrow. Incidentally, I’ll be participating in #SupernaturalDay over on Twitter. [Image: Warner Bros.]

Award This. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were a two night affair this weekend, with Game of Thrones scoring nine statues. Not too shabby, eh? Get the complete list of winners for night one and night two at Deadline.

Back and Spooky. The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXVII is coming on October 16, and it’s bringing a familiar face with it. Homer’s nemesis Frank Grimes (voiced by Hank Azaria) is coming back for a small cameo as a ghost. Insert ominous music here! [Nerdist]

Flames, Vengeance, Etc. Ghost Rider is joining season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and a new promo for the ABC series puts the emphasis on Robbie Reyes. The show returns on September 20, so you don’t have to wait long to see Reyes in action. [IGN]

Xmas in Ponyville. I know. It’s early to mention the word Christmas unless we’re talking about The Nightmare Before Christmas, but in case you’re a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan, you should know A Pony Kind of Christmas will be out on October 7. It’s an expanded version of the last year’s MLP holiday album with five brand-new tracks. [Image: Hasbro/Legacy]

She’s Back. Katee Sackhoff voiced the Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and it sounds like she’s reprising the character in Star Wars Rebels. She reportedly told attendees at Oz Comic-Con that she has recorded lines for Bo-Katan in the new series. I could definitely see her coming back given the focus being put on Sabine’s family/background in season three. [Nerdist]

A Power Move. Could Cersei actually take charge and hold the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones? There’s a rumor she could form a helpful alliance that would help her hang onto power. If you’re okay with spoilers and speculations, watch Jessica Chobot discuss the possibilities on the latest Nerdist News. [Nerdist]

Planet Jumping. Amazon is moving forward with a pilot for The Book of Strange New Things, an adaptation of Michel Faber’s 2014 novels, and they’ve cast Richard Madden in the lead. He’ll play a Christian minister who makes a trip to another planet to spread the good word of the Bible. [CBR]

Not a Spinoff. If you ever thought Darkwing Duck was a spinoff of DuckTales (I mean, they do share some characters), it’s time for a reality check. Darkwing creator Tad Stones says there’s no shared continuity at all, and that Darkwing took place in its own separate universe. Read more about the non-connection between Darkwing Duck and DuckTales here at Nerdist.

A Puzzling Problem. Tis the season for promos, isn’t it? The last one I’m sharing today is for FX’s Legion (it’s debuting in early 2017). It shows off one of David Haller’s unique abilities–the power to switch bodies. As you can see, his doctor is thoroughly confused by this. [TVLine]

Juicy Descriptions. Who’s pumped for the arrival of Black Mirror on Netflix? We’ll get 12 new episodes on October 21, and Charlie Brooker has shared descriptions for six of them. Read the episode synopses here at Nerdist.

How will you be spending Supernatural Day tomorrow? Tell me in the comments.
