SUPERMAN RETURNS Gets a Surprisingly Gentle Honest Trailer

“Before the balls-to-the-wall mayhem of Man of Steel, but after the balls-to-the-wall nonsense of Superman 4, there was the balls-to-the-wall boredom of Superman Returns.”

That’s right, director Bryan Singer‘s addition to the Superman cinematic world finally has its own Honest Trailer from the Screen Junkies. This “planned mix of homage, sequel, remake, and reboot” (also known as a “hobooquell”) starred Brandon Routh doing a pretty good Christopher Reeve impression, that unfortunately saw him mostly making mopey faces while waiting for things to actually happen, like his climactic fight with a large rock.

With enough direct nods to the original Reeve-starring Superman movies to make even J.J. Abrams think they over did it, Superman Returns saw poor James Marsden have to compete with a literal super man baby-daddy, one that kept using his super powers to spy on his old girlfriend.

This Honest Trailer was actually decided on by the fans, because for the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (we really can’t wait for that one to get an Honest Trailer eventually) they did one for both Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman and Richard Donner’s 1978 Superman. Donner’s flick got more views, so we got this Honest Trailer instead of one for Batman Begins.

At least the Screen Junkies agree that the scene in Superman Returns where he saves the plane from crashing into the baseball stadium is arguably the best Superman action sequence ever. That was definitely not boring.

What was the best part of this Honest Trailer? Tell us in the comments below what you truthfully think.
