First Images and Promo from SUPERGIRL/THE FLASH Crossover Are Here

At long last, the highly anticipated Supergirl/The Flash musical crossover is so close that you can almost hear the harmonies! But just in case you weren’t excited enough already, Entertainment Weekly revealed a new batch of promotional images (and a teaser—see above!), and things in the DC TV universe are shaping up to be just as glamorous as we could have hoped.

According to details recently released by The CW, the crossover will be set up in the Supergirl episode “Star-Crossed” on Monday, March 20, but will start in earnest the next day on The Flash. The episode in question, “Duet,” will find Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Barry (Grant Gustin) trapped in a coma together thanks to a nefarious new villain called the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). In order to escape, they have to sing and dance their way through an old-timey movie musical, alongside alternate reality versions of their friends who’ll fill out the supporting cast.

Makes a lot of sense, considering that the composers for La La Land and Rachel Bloom of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend are writing some of the songs — after all, nobody knows how to put on a classic reality-bending Hollywood production better than them!

Fans were noticeably excited:

Personally I was hoping this would be a more straightforward musical (who does’t want to see superheroes singing in tights?), but I actually dig the Hollywood gimmick a lot. What about you? Let us know what you think in the comments!
