SUPERGIRL Movie Takes Flight at Warner Bros.

SUPERGIRL Movie Takes Flight at Warner Bros.

It wasn’t too long ago that her much maligned (but actually amazing) solo movie was used as a one woman reason to not make female led superhero movies. Times have changed though, and after the staggering success of Wonder Woman and the iconic performance of Melissa Benoist in CW’s Supergirl, it looks like a Supergirl movie is taking flight at Warner Bros.

According to Deadline, the studio is eyeing a new Supergirl motion picture with writer Oren Uziel already on board. Though details are currently scarce, we’d guess that they’ll likely be looking to hook a woman to direct the story of Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman who arrives on Earth years later after her father manages to save her from the wreckage of Krypton.

Fans already know and love Benoist’s Kara from the popular CW series, so it’ll be interesting to see which route the studio goes with this film. Years ago there were rumors that Grant Gustin’s Flash had been considered for the Justice League movie, so could Warner Bros’ new head Walter Hamada be considering something similar for the Supergirl film? It’s unlikely as DC has established the idea of a multiverse to explain why they have multiple versions of heroes on different platforms, but personally we would LOVE to see Benoist get her own feature.

Do you have a dream Supergirl? Worried it’s going to be too grim and gritty? Can’t keep track of all the in-production DC movies? Let us know below!
