SUPER MARIO WORLD Completed in 23 Minutes…While Blindfolded

Just when you thought you were good at Mario games, YouTube user PangaeaPanga had to go and beat Super Mario World in 23 minutes. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, he did it while blindfolded. Let me repeat that, the man couldn’t see! The exact time on his visionless run is 23:14. Someone sure is going to be ready for Super Mario Maker.

As fast as his run is, he only started to practice for his shining moment a week before completing this run. He did run into a few snafus, so you can imagine how much quicker he can get through it once he accomplishes a perfect run. I’d bet he can shave off a couple of minutes if he didn’t get lost in the world map or died.

Still, it’s mind-blowing that this is even possible. There are a few techniques he seems enact, one is obviously memorization. Though he can’t see what’s in front of him, he knows the game sounds and worlds well enough that he can use his senses to help him figure out his place in the game. He also keeps count just to make sure he times everything perfectly.

Everything about this seems legit. There are a few times when our blindfolded platformer second guesses his location and even goes back to stack up his lives count just in case the final boss proves to be tricky. Spoiler, Bowser stands no chance. And to think I have a hard enough time with the game when I can see everything.

One thing is certain, the rest of the speed running community needs to step their game up. How fast can you beat any Mario title? Think you could do it blindfolded? Make sure to triple-jump into the comments section below and let us know.
