150,000 Dominoes Bring SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY to Life in This Video

We could spend days gushing about all that there is to love about Nintendo’s newest adventure, Super Mario Odyssey. However, one of the coolest things about our red jump-suited protagonist (who’s no longer a plumber) is all the creativity he inspires in his millions of fans. One instance of such imagination: This Super Mario Odyssey-themed domino display made with nearly 150,000 well-placed pieces of plastic.

This wonderful set-up comes to us via a recent post on Kotaku. To make one of these displays, not to mention to film it for YouTube, has got to be such a painstakingly difficult process and serves as proof that YouTube’s TheDominoKing is absolutely dedicated to his craft and is also one hell of a Super Mario Odyssey fan.

The epic domino toppling is made from 148,777 dominoes and features characters from the new game, a few Mario/Cappy-possessed versions of Mushroom Kingdom baddies, and is set to a version of the game’s theme song, “Jump Up, Super Star!”

The internet (and certain parts of Nerdist itself) are full of pop culture-inspired domino displays and, frankly, we’re all quite lucky for it. They’re just so mesmerizing that we’d be content to watch them for hours. We consider them in the same vein as slime videos or those ASMR things. Just not as creepy.

What do you think of this Super Mario Odyssey domino display? Think TheDominoKing should have sprung for those last 1,223 pieces to make it an even 150K? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
