Sunday SDCC Schedule: From SESAME and SANJAY to THE FOLLOWING and THE STRAIN

Well friends, every convention has to end sometime. Usually by Sunday, everybody’s bleary-eyed and their feet are coming off at the ankles from all the incessant queuing. But it’s not over yet! Sunday, July 27th, at this year’s Comic-Con International still has quite a bit of great content for you to see. And, hey, you might even beat some of the lines, provided everybody’s wiped out and sleeping all day. Sunday could totally be your day! It’s everyone’s day! It’s a day for the children.

That last part isn’t unnecessarily grandiose at all, by the way; Sunday at Comic-Con tends to be geared toward families with lots of panels taking place in the morning dealing with things kids and families would enjoy. Even our own Chris Hardwick will be taking part in two really cool panels for kids of all ages. At 10:15am (you can do it!) in Room 6A, Chris will be moderating the panel entitled “Sesame Street & Pop Culture: 45 Years of Spoofs on the ‘Street'” wherein panelists like Eric Jacobson (Grover and Bert), Joey Mazzarino (Murray Monster, Sesame Street head writer and director), David Rudman (Cookie Monster and Baby Bear), and Carol-Lynn Parente (executive producer).

Then, at 1:00pm in Room 6A, Chris will be taking part in a panel for Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig in which the cast will perform an episode LIVE. Co-creators Jay Howell and Jim Dirschberger will operate a soundboard and pepper the performance with noiice SFX. Chris Hardwick (Craig), Maulik Pancholy (Sanjay), Tony Hale (Arrested Development), Matt Jones (Breaking Bad), John DiMaggio (Futurama), and other special guests will be performing. Following will be an exclusive sneak peek at an upcoming episode and audience Q&A with cast and creators. Moderated by Claudia Spinelli (VP of current series for Nickelodeon).

Then, at 2:00pm, march yourself over to Room 24ABC for Nerdist News Live in which Jessica Chobot and the rest of the Nerdist News crew catch you up on the latest in movie, TV, comic book, gaming, and tech news. Will there be guests? Of course! Will there be laughs? Undoubtedly! Will there be rhetorical questions? Probably not! Because, you’ll get the opportunity to ask questions of your own and the panel will be honor bound to answer. Swing by, it’ll be a good time.

There’s also a few things going on with the horror television (which has really taken off in the past couple of years) you all love. At 11:15am in Hall H, there will be a video presentation and Q&A with Fox’s The Following including appearances by stars Kevin Bacon, Shawn Ashmore, Sam Underwood, and Jessica Stroup, along with creator Kevin Williamson and executive producer Marcos Siega. Later on in the same Hall at 1:45pm will be a special screening of episode 3 of FX’s The Strain followed by a Q&A by creators Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan and showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost) along with the cast members Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Miguel Gomez, Ben Hyland, and Jack Kesey.

And, some other cool things you might enjoy include a celebration of 75 years of Marvel Comics, which began as issue one of Marvel Comics printed under the banner of Timely in 1939 featuring The Human Torch and Sub-Mariner. At the same panel, they will be celebrating 50 years of Daredevil. This panel is at 1:45pm in Room 6DE. Also, a good old fashion nerd-out called The Original Starship Smackdown XIII: Battle of the Intergalactic Stars Edition will be at 3:30 in Room 6A wherein many panelists will argue about which spaceship is the best.

It will have been an excellent Comic-Con, we’re sure. For more on these and all the info you care about, head to the Comic-Con website.
