Stuntman Backflips Over Formula E Race Car, Drenches Your Palms

Dodge bullets a few times inside the Matrix and everybody starts calling you “The One.” But what name can we possibly bestow upon Damien Walters, the British stuntman who backflipped over a full-throttle Formula E race car (without even looking!) at it as it barreled down on him?

The Duke of Juke? Hardcore Henry for Realsies? Flex Luthor? The Brazen Baldy?!

In the video above, which came to our attention via Sploid and was originally produced by the FIA Formula E Championship league, we see the fearless—and possibly insane—Walters as he prepares for and executes on one of his “dream stunts” involving a wicked quick race car and a perfectly timed backflip. And, whether it was because he has trained his whole life as a stuntman, gymnast, and parkour artist, or because of that awesomely aerodynamic dome, he pulled it off without a speck of drama—exactly how the Brits like their stunts, we’d imagine.

You can see in the video how Walters prepared for the stunt, using math (that looks like it included a little bit of the ol’ distance=rate x time), laser sensors, and a super precise clock to figure out the exact timing required to make sure he’d clear the car as it passed beneath him. Because if you’re going to risk your life to do something, why not at least get the numbers right using science first, right?

And, because this is the future where people backflip over fully electric race cars like it ain’t no thang, you can also check out the 360-degree video of the stunt below:

While this is obviously not a stunt you should ever try in any form at home, what you can do from home is let us know what you think of this video. Is Walters one of the bravest people ever, or just completely out of his mind? Go flippin’ nuts in the comments below!
