Strong Bad And Strong Sad Celebrate Record Store Day in New HOMESTAR RUNNER Video

Record Store Day was this past weekend and we are not the only ones who are still stoked to have snagged some special limited edition releases; the characters of Homestar Runner are music nerds too, it seems. Apparently Strong Sad is a big fan of Record Store Day and eagerly awaits the special release from his favorite band, Sloshy. Strong Bad however has a differing opinion of this little celebration. He is however looking to pick up the newest Limozeen exclusive, which I personally would love to give a listen to. I will say, though, that Sloshy’s “B-est Of B-Sides” will be stuck in my head for the next few days. It has been a little while since our last Homestar Runner video, but it is nice to see that they have not lost their stride after so many years.

Record Store Day has been an April tradition for eight years now and originated as a sign of unity and appreciation between musical artists, their fans, and the independent record stores that are still fighting the fight against digital download music. The day is marked by the release of special limited release albums from artists that are only available at specific outlets on that day alone. For some, like Strong Bad and apparently the band members of Sloshy, the day is seen as a crass attempt to trick the masses of music lovers into waiting on long lines for items whose rarity does not equate the amount of effort required. Everything will have its naysayers, but it hasn’t seemed to slow Record Store Day down yet.

What do you think of Record Store Day? Celebration of music, or cheap cash grab? Let us know in the comments below.
