STREET FIGHTER V Beta is Back…in Europe…Kinda

So after major issues–like completely falling apart–caused Capcom to postpone the Street Fighter V beta indefinitely, they are now moving on and trying again. It is not, however, a major beta test. The 5-day global beta test has yet to be announced sadly, but at the moment, Capcom plans to run stress tests on their European servers today and tomorrow. Starting at 4:00pm and running until Midnight BST, today and tomorrow, Capcom plans to run a week-long series of region specific stress tests on their servers in order to prepare for their full beta test run. Dates of these stress tests have not yet been announced for servers in North America and Asia, but we can assume they will occur at some point in the next seven days. It will all depend on the outcome of the next two days for Europe.

One can only assume that these stress tests are being implemented because Capcom is looking to reattempt launching their beta test some time in the near future. After the drastic failure of their previous attempt, which resulted in wild server crashes and an overall poor experience, the company is obviously taking their time to be sure this next try will not be a repeat. While, of course, many players and fans will feel the beta server debacle and subsequent waiting period are inconvenient, thus lashing out against Capcom for the event, it is nice to see that the company has learned from their mistake and is taking measures to correct it. This is more than can be said about some AAA publishers (cough Warner Bros cough) that waited until after their pushed-back release to even acknowledge that there were issues.

Do you think Capcom is making the right moves to prepare for a new Beta? Let us know in the comments below.
