STREET FIGHTER II’s ‘Guile’s Theme’ Gets a Metal Remix

Even after 25 years, Yoko Shimomura’s soundtrack for Street Fighter II: The World Warrior is still one of the all-time greats. The theme from Guile’s stage is particularly popular, and it has also inspired its own meme: “Guile’s theme goes with everything.”

To mark the release of Street Fighter V, Eric Calderone, a.k.a. Erock, has released a “metalized” version of Guile’s theme. This is Calderone’s second take on the classic tune, and he even included Jean-Claude Van Damme’s unintentionally hilarious Guile speech from the live-action Street Fighter film!

“I always look for excuses to be able to redo an older video,” wrote Calderone on his YouTube page. “For a couple reasons, 1. I wasn’t the greatest at audio in the beginning. I still have a long way to go but I feel I’ve learned a lot. 2. Time periods and playing. It fascinates me hearing versions of songs at different time periods according to the musician. How one did it then vs how one would do it tomorrow…I figured why not give Guile’s theme another shot. Thank you all so much for everything, it means the world.”

For comparison’s sake, here’s Calderone’s first metal version of Guile’s theme from 2009.

Calderone frequently releases metal versions of popular songs and themes on his YouTube channel, which you can visit here. We’ve previously featured Calderone’s take on the Jessica Jones opening theme and Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.
