Stream the Epic GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Soundtrack

Have you caught yourself re-watching the “Main Title” of each Game of Thrones episode, just to hear the music? Who could blame you? I mean, it’s unimpeachably epic. The music (“Dun-dun-da-na-nuh-nun-da-na-nuh-nun”) is definite Thrones, now inseparable from the show’s visual hedonism. Sometimes it’s nice to delve into the music without its visual counterpart, though, and today we get that opportunity. Be warned…the track titles might hint to plot details for the finale.

In anticipation of its release on Friday, Pandora is premiering the soundtrack for the sixth season of Game of Thrones. Composer Ramin Djawadi’s latest masterpiece probably doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves—we’ve grown so accustomed to it that we fail to realize how crucial it is to the show’s mood. The love scenes. The battle sequences. They just wouldn’t hold up without those soaring strings and pizzicato’d tones of foreboding. And where would we be without “The Rains of Castamere?” As dead to the show as the people who heard it at the Red Wedding.

Ok that’s an exaggeration, but truly, the music sounds as though it were wrought from George R. R. Martin’s lore. As though it crept naturally out of his mountains of manuscripts. Give a listen and really get pumped up for the season finale this weekend.
