STRANGER THINGS Script Pages Tease Mysterious New Characters and Locations

In just over a month, we’ll all head back to Hawkins, Indiana for the highly anticipated second season of Stranger Things. We haven’t seen much new footage since the first season 2 trailer debuted earlier this year, but apparently the scene at the arcade was about more than just giving Will a return ticket to the Upside Down, it introduces us to two major new characters.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the first script pages, giving us our first real look at Sadie Sink’s Max and Matty Cardarople’s Keith. As described by the Duffer brothers, Keith is “several years older than our boys, but he’s somehow less mature.” He also works at The Palace, the boys’ local arcade of choice. More pointedly, Keith tries to get Mike to set him up on a date with Nancy in exchange for telling the boys who this mysterious “Mad” Max is.

At this point in the story, the kids don’t realize that Max (pictured above) is a girl. All they want to know is who beat Dustin’s Dig Dug score. It’s also worth noting that only Lucas is in favor of striking the deal with Keith. Mike flat out refuses to “prostitute” his sister, while Dustin also argues against it. As you may recall from the very first episode of the series, Dustin had his own crush on Nancy, and that may continue this season as well.

The preview scene ends with Will seemingly back in the Upside Down, which may or may not be a vision of things to come for the town. But given the way that Keith is used in this scene, he may be one of the few characters with ties to the kids and the older teens, including Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan. Head over to EW to take a look at the scene pages and try not to be worried about Will.

Stranger Things season 2 will drop on Friday, October 27.
