STRANGER THINGS Gets Reenvisioned as an 8-Bit Video Game

We might be a little obsessed with Stranger Things at the moment, but can you blame us? Netflix’s original series came out of nowhere last month and it quickly won our hearts with its ’80s movie homages and an unexpectedly compelling story. It already feels like Stranger Things has been with us for years, and we’re eager to see more. A second season may not be happening right away, but we’d settle for a Stranger Things video game!

As far as we can tell, no one has created a working version of a Stranger Things game yet, but an artist named Midio may have given us the next best thing. Via cnet, Midio posted a mock-up for a Stranger Things-inspired video game on his Twitter account that features the core trio of Mike, Lucas, and Dustin, along with the enigmatic young girl known as Eleven as they face the creature they call the Demigorgon.

Sadly, this is just a gif and not actually playable. But we think that Midio is on to something here. Stranger Things could really work as an old school adventure RPF, if someone were inclined to actually make it. We’ve previously covered game designer Jacob Janerka’s take on a point-and-click Stranger Things adventure game, which we would also very much like to see.

What did you think about Midio’s Stranger Things video game mockup? And what would you like to see in a real Stranger Things video game? Roll for initiative in the comment section below!

Does Stranger Things‘ Upside Down really exist? Sounds crazy, but check out the below video to find out.
