It’s late July now, which means we’re essentially in the peak of summer. Ick. If you’re tired of your air conditioner inflating your electricity bill and you’re over being sweaty all the time, the good news is fall is right around the corner. Corn mazes are a very important part of fall, and every year, farms around the country get creative and have a ton of fun with their designs. For example, 2016 brought an excellent Mario-themed maze, 2017 included a touching tribute to Carrie Fisher via a Princess Leia corn maze, and now 2018 is promising to be just as fun, because a farm in Indiana is honoring perhaps the most prominent contemporary show to take place in the state, Stranger Things.
Lafayette, Indiana’s Exploration Farms plants a new corn maze every year, and this year, they really nailed it. Their Stranger Things maze is clearly inspired by promotional art for the show’s most recent season, since it features a longer-haired Eleven posing in the exact same way. Aside from that, the maze design also features some ominous-looking clouds, the Demogorgon sulking along, and the kids getting the heck out of there ASAP on their bikes.
Tim Fitzgerald, president and CEO of Exploration Acre, told WTHR, “After binge-watching the entire Stranger Things series last year, I knew we had a unique opportunity to create an immersive environment for fans at our farm. […] This year, new technology allowed us to plant the maze design like an inkjet printer, dropping seeds into the precise design we imagined.”
If you happen to find yourself in the area this fall, the maze will be open from September 14 to October 28, and more information can be found on the Exploration Farms website.
