STEVEN UNIVERSE Returning, CW Signs Deal with Netflix, and More

The week just started, but we’re already in the middle of it. It’s not hard to explain, but I’m going to blame it on time being wibbly wobbly and such. Let’s slow down the time thing for a minute and catch up on some television headlines. Today’s TV-Cap has news about The CW’s deal with Netflix, more Steven Universe, a Lonely Planet comedy pilot, and much more.

See All the Things. The CW and Netflix have inked a deal that will begin with the 2016-2017 season. CW’s lineup will be leaving Hulu as of October, and then after the next seasons of their shows end, the episodes will be on Netflix eight days after the season finale airs. It means you’ll be able to binge whole seasons of series like The Flash and Supergirl right after they wrap up. Heck. Yes. Get more info here at Nerdist.

Sweet Summertime. Cartoon Network is making this season “The Summer of Steven.” That means Steven Universe is returning with shiny new episodes on July 18. And oh boy, we’re getting a ton of ’em. Fresh episodes will air almost every weeknight for over a month, finishing out season three (which started airing in May). [io9]

Ready Your Pen. FX has set the premiere date for the American Horror Story season six premiere; the drama will be back on September 14. Variety has the intel on a couple other debut dates from FX.

Why Not? The Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe, have been busy working in the Marvel universe, but superhero stories are far from their only focus. They’re working with writer Frank Baldwin to craft a television adaptation of the 1979 film The Warriors. The series is for Hulu… and that’s about all we know so far. Because of the Russo Brothers’ cred, I’m intrigued. [Nerdist]

Doctor Says. We haven’t seen the last of Dr. Hopper on Once Upon a Time, even if the character’s been absent for almost two seasons. Raphael Sbarge will be back as Hopper, a.k.a. Jiminy Cricket, in the season six premiere, and he’ll have a new patient. Any guesses about who it will be? [TVLine]

Engage in a Reunion. Comic-Con will play host to a 50th anniversary panel for Star Trek. Bryan Fuller will moderate a panel featuring Trek cast members such as William Shatner, Michael Dorn, Jeri Ryan, and more. It’s happening on Saturday, July 23, in Hall H at 2:00p.m. I’m guessing it’s going to be a big deal. Get more info about Star Trek happenings at Comic-Con at Deadline.

An Art Tribute. Cynthiana, Kentucky, the home of The Walking Dead original artist Tony Moore, has unveiled a mural tribute to the AMC series. It took six days and 70 cans of paint for artist Sergio Odeith to create the massive images of Rick and co. on the side of a building. No walkers have been spotted in the area—is this mural keeping them away, or is it a coincidence? [ComicBook.com]

“Millennial Misfits.” Freeform has a comedy pilot from The Lonely Island gents. Freeform is, in theory, a family network, so the tone will likely be in that range. The story is about overlooked millennial misfits, they’ll be played by Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflal, who try to find their way in Los Angeles and come to rely on their friendship. I’m holding out for more details before I get invested. [Vulture]

Live Action. IFC’s going live with an episode of Documentary Now! They’re filming the installment on July 7 (that’s tomorrow) in San Gabriel, California with Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Maya Rudolph and the band Test Pattern. The installment is inspired by the Talking Heads. Seating is first-come, first-serve, and they’re encouraging 1980s attire. Please go and take pictures of your outfit.
