Steven Tyler Sings “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing” With Shocked Street Performer

In the summer of 1998, Aerosmith‘s power ballad, “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing,” was all over the airwaves. It was the signature song from the Armageddon soundtrack, but it has far outlived Michael Bay’s disaster pic to become one of Aerosmith’s most popular hits. Twenty years later, it’s still worthy of appreciation and it has fans around the world. But for one street musician in Moscow, “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing” gave him the chance of a lifetime to perform alongside Aerosmith’s lead singer, Steven Tyler.

This clip is currently going viral thanks to a tweet from New York Magazine‘s Yashar Ali. But it’s actually from a couple years ago. A longer version of the video can be found on YouTube, which shows Tyler listening to the song in the crowd before deciding to join the performance.

There is some unanticipated comedy from the shocked reactions of the street musician, and he looks like he can barely believe that Tyler is standing alongside him. To his credit, the street musician didn’t stop playing, although he didn’t fully take the opportunity to sing with Tyler. Regardless, the crowd immediately recognized Tyler and burst into applause. This was truly a special occasion, and revisiting this video was a worthy way to mark the twentieth anniversary of the song.
