We have so many thoughts and feelings about the newly released trailer for Focus Feature’s film about the incredible Stephen Hawking, The Theory of Everything. Mostly they’re all related to just how goddamn good the whole thing looks. All of the feels, you guys: this one cut right to the ol’ heartstrings and has “Oscar Bait!” written all over it.
Set to have its world premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, The Theory of Everything follows the life and times of Hawking and his wife, Jane Wilde, through the early days of their courtship and beyond. No surprise there, considering the whole thing is based on Jane Hawkingâs book. But it’s sometimes easy to forget that there’s a regular ol’ run-of-the-mill human man behind one of the universe’s most prolific scientific minds because, I mean, he’s just so mind-bogglingly intelligent. A glimpse into what made him the man he ultimately became, which this film purports to be, is undoubtedly a fascinating one.
Starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones as the aforementioned Hawking duo, the film’s director touts The Theory of Everything as “a very unusual love story in a very strange environment, a very strange sort of landscape,” in a brief chat with Deadline. “That is, I think, the abiding theme of the film. It is how these two characters, these two real people transcend all the complications and curveballs that life throws at them.”
Another cool fact? The film has Hawking’s enthusiastic blessing and he even recorded parts of the dialogue with his own speech generating device.
What do you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments.
Why did they even remake this movie. Benedict Cumberbatch played an awesome S.Hawking, they should of left it at that!!
love it…i dont own a tv (what for??), i dont read newspapers (what for??) , dont go to the movies (what for?) ….but THIS one seems to be a real investment of ones time..like FORREST GUMP…The Green Mile….etc
Hope to see it. Beautiful !
:O
looks great. I will definitely see it
**tears*** amazing. I can’t wait!!!!!
Please excuse me for a moment. My eyes seem to be leaking.
Will it bring more than “Hawking” of the BBC? With Benedict Cumberbatch?

I wonder……Still…it’s a bit unusual to think of him as human being and not “just” a brain…makes me feel even more respect!
“Will give you the chills.” Not “will give all of you the chills.”
Grammar cop out!
“…will give you all of the chills.” This is completely correct in Intertubes Parlance.
Grammar cop unlawful arrest.
Really can’t wait to watch this! But I’ve got misty/dusty eyes already.
Looks nice and all but it it seriously similar “Hawking” 2004 in which Benedict Cumberbatch won praise for playing the lead. Before you plunk your money down, checkout this version on amazon. It is stunning.
I will I love physics and Benedict is a great actor, and I really admire Hawking’s work.
Really liked the Benedict Cumberbatch version. Hope this is as good as that one.
It looks like a bigger budget version of the 2004 movie which I enjoyed, I’ll still watch it that’s for sure
I think I just about lost my shit when I saw David Thewlis playing his professor…
Yes! I also was most excited by this. So glad to see another Thewlis fan.
He had a great funny bit in the last Monthy Python concert..
This is probably going to be the only movie,I see this year
Viserys! 😀
Excuse me…I have some dust in my eyes,,,,
Already have misty eyes! Can’t wait.
Why did they remake this? Was the Benedict Cumberbatch version of it not great enough?
This is hardly a “remake” . . .
There was a remake released in 2013 also called Hawking but this is different and has Hawking’s approval and blessing.
I am so there! His discussions on time travel are the stuff nerd dreams are made of.
All the chills
I said thank you.
Beautiful! You were right, I feel like I was punched right in the Hardwick. 😉
