Stephen Hawking’s Biopic THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING Will Give You All of the Chills

We have so many thoughts and feelings about the newly released trailer for Focus Feature’s film about the incredible Stephen Hawking, The Theory of Everything. Mostly they’re all related to just how goddamn good the whole thing looks. All of the feels, you guys: this one cut right to the ol’ heartstrings and has “Oscar Bait!” written all over it.

Set to have its world premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, The Theory of Everything follows the life and times of Hawking and his wife, Jane Wilde, through the early days of their courtship and beyond. No surprise there, considering the whole thing is based on Jane Hawking’s book. But it’s sometimes easy to forget that there’s a regular ol’ run-of-the-mill human man behind one of the universe’s most prolific scientific minds because, I mean, he’s just so mind-bogglingly intelligent. A glimpse into what made him the man he ultimately became, which this film purports to be, is undoubtedly a fascinating one.

Starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones as the aforementioned Hawking duo, the film’s director touts The Theory of Everything as “a very unusual love story in a very strange environment, a very strange sort of landscape,” in a brief chat with Deadline. “That is, I think, the abiding theme of the film. It is how these two characters, these two real people transcend all the complications and curveballs that life throws at them.”

Another cool fact? The film has Hawking’s enthusiastic blessing and he even recorded parts of the dialogue with his own speech generating device.

What do you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments.

I wonder……Still…it’s a bit unusual to think of him as human being and not “just” a brain…makes me feel even more respect!
