Stephen Colbert Will Guide You Home as the Voice of Waze

I am sure we have all had that moment using a GPS when we’ve though thought, “I really wish this was voiced by a famous satirical late night talk show host instead of some beneficent robot lady.” Well, thankfully the good people with Waze have answered that prayer: Stephen Colbert is the latest celebrity to provide his/her voice for the Waze navigation app. Not only did he announce it to the world with the above video, but he made sure to cover his bases on social media as well.

Yes, before he takes over the chair for CBS’s The Late Show, Colbert will be dealing out truthiness in the form of left turns and right turns as he leads you to your next destination. Also, for anyone that fears this will be just another dry reading of “take the next exit,” my personal experience with the app proves that all of the quippy Stephen Colbert personality featured in the video is also in the app.

One of the aspects about Waze that sets it apart from a lot of stock GPS applications is its community interaction, which allows others to warn of impending traffic problems, road closures, and cheaper gas based on user input. Waze also offers several celebrity voices other than Stephen’s, such as quintuple threat Neil Patrick Harris, or NFL star Rob Gronkowski. Unlike a lot of it’s competitors, though, Waze offers these voices for free.

The Waze app is available for free on iOS, Android, and Windows phone right now. Who else would you want to guide you on Waze? Sound off in the section below!
