Stephen Colbert Addresses Replacing David Letterman on THE COLBERT REPORT

Following yesterday’s news of Stephen Colbert officially named to take over The Late Show at CBS when David Letterman retires, the version of Stephen Colbert who hosts The Colbert Report had a thing or two to say about Letterman’s imminent departure. In the opening of last night’s show, Stephen had to calm down thunderous applause and chanting and commented that Letterman has had a profound effect on him and his own show and that he “doesn’t envy” whoever is taking over at The Late Show.

Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers also all sent their congratulations from their respective late night shows as well. As you can very well see, until 2015, there will be plenty of jokes on Letterman leaving and Colbert taking his place.
