‘Stargate Universe’ Cancelled

Oh, by the way, in case you missed the news, “Stargate Universe” has been canceled by SyFy in the U.S.  They’ll run the next season of ten episodes in the Spring, and then that’ll be it, no third season.

If you’re a fan of the “Stargate” franchise, sorry ’bout that.  The “Stargate” series — “SG-1,” “Atlantis,” and this one — have been running on the channel since 2002, and the first TV version actually started on Showtime in 1997, so it’s been a long run, anyway.

bummer! I wanted so much for GRACELAND to be the next incarnation of Stargate… an Elvis universe would have been swell.

  2. lordshadowking says:

syfy needs to stop canceling shows in the middle maybe they would not have this problem with looseing veiwers if they could stick by something its boycott time tired of half season bs with tacked on endings

  3. tuffhippy says:

So Stargate Universe is to be cancelled, but Ghosthunters was just renewed for another full season? For shame, SyFy! If not for the awesomely bad SyFy Original movies (Ice Spiders, anyone?), you would be deleted from my favorites list…

  4. Too bad, SGU definitely wasn’t my favorite of the incarnations, but I liked that the franchise was still doing well. Philds391, I was under the impression that the Atlantis movie was on hold until MGM was sure it was going to continue existing. It’s still up on IMDB, but everything I could find on it had it in limbo, if you know something I don’t, I’d love to hear it.

  5. Freyr says:

I have just heard it. Never thought that this will be end like this. I like it, I think this show is the best after the Star Trek series. I waited all the episodes so much, here, in a small country of Europe. Another show that never will arrive here. 🙁
I hope there will be some kind of movie to close the storyline.

  6. Adrianne says:

SGU was one of the few things left my brother and I bond over. Now all we have is Star Trek reruns since I have failed to convert him to Doctor Who. So sad.

Although, I don’t think I really understood why every episode ended with a musical sadness montage.

  7. my-name-here says:

I was not a fan of sg-1 or stargate atlantis. But I was very much enjoying SGU, i’m really quite bummed to hear about this… more so than I would have thought I would be.

  8. Tyler says:

SGU seemed to me like it would have done better with a whole new background, rather than being spot welded to the Stargate universe. It went against the franchise’s established grain so drastically as to alienate people who tuned in because it had the Stargate name.

  9. Oluutaa says:

Stargate: Universe was NOT Stargate. I am happy to see it go off the air.

  10. Philds391 says:

Damn. I was just starting to like SGU. At least theres the Stargate Atlantis movie to look forward to.

  11. sorted says:

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot…. this is the only Stargate shite I enjoy, it’s like any show that is fairly intelligent and entertaining gets the shitcan, what is happening in the fucking US with all this…. geezuzz.

    sorted

  12. Eric says:

I’m really bummed about this. SGU is my favorite show on SyFy.

    Stupid jerks.

  13. Zach says:

Damn it, I just got into Stargate over the summer and marathoned the first two series, just got myself into SGU. So what does scifi even have to offer now?

  14. Kevin says:

I have to say, this saddens me. I’ve always assumed that it started with a Producer saying something along the lines of, “Hey, that Battlestar Galactica show was pretty popular. We should make a show that feels like that. Oh, we have the rights to the Stargate franchise! Let’s use that!”

    Still, I quite enjoyed it.

Any word on whether the final ten episodes will actually conclude the story? If not, there had better be a mini-series in the works. You have already angered me by encouraging trendy misspelling, SyFy (which I like to pronounce, “siffee”); if you antagonize me further, I might be forced to stop watching you on my friends’ cable. Take that!
