The desert planet Jakku may not be known for its atmosphere, but it is famous for its antiques.
If you’ve yet to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens (don’t worry, no spoilers here), the desolate planet is home to a whole lot of recognizable wreckage, including a massive Star Destroyer that was used in an important battle in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi.
Impassioned by his love for The Force Awakens, artist Vadu Amka wanted to create his own Star Wars custom console. Instead of going with the usual schemes you’ll find on mass-produced consolesâones modeled after droids or Storm TroopersâAmka decided to use the crashed ship on Jakku as inspiration. The result: a unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens-themed Nintendo 64. Check out the clip above, and peep the gallery below for a close look at the epic custom console.
The console itself is pretty rad, but the ship-like controller takes the cake. The Star Wars logo is more prominent on the peripheral than it is on the console.
What’s even more impressive is that the design is not simply a custom paint job. Amka had to hammer aluminum, sand, and even melt tin sheets to create his masterpiece. It took a whopping 30 hours to complete this project, and, we must say, it was worth it.
How great would it be to have Jakku-themed PS4/Xbox One/PC where we could boot up Star Wars: Battlefront and play the free Battle of Jakku DLC? (You could call it Jakku-ception.)
What do you guys think about this N64? Would you like your own? What other themes from Episode VII could be used to customize a console? Let us know in the comments below.
