It may be quite awhile before we see any footage from Star Wars: Episode VIII, but there are new scenes coming to us next week with the digital release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Lucasfilm released a new teaser trailer that touches upon the lost moments from the film, but if you donât want to know anything about them ahead of time, consider this your spoiler warning and stop reading now!
The teaser video focuses on two key sequences that may surprise you. In the first, Kylo Ren and his First Order stormtroopers force their way onto the Millennium Falcon and he appears to have an emotional reaction when he reaches the cockpit. Given who Kylo Ren really is, this canât be his first time on the ship and his return seems to cause him even more internal conflict.
As for the second scene teased in this new video, we get Han Solo, Chewbacca, Finn, and Maz Kanata trying to escape as the stormtroopers invade her castle. Director J.J. Abrams has previously indicated that Maz showed off her Force powers in one of the deleted scenes from the movie, so perhaps weâll finally get to see that here.
In a quick cut, the teaser also shows Maz’s bar and Rey in the Resistance base as she gets an update on Finn’s condition. The other confirmed deleted scenes from The Force Awakens includes a new sequence with Finn during the first village attack on Jakku, an earlier introduction for General Leia as she learns about that attack from BB-8âs transmission, a short sequence with Poe Dameron and the other X-Wing fighters in space before they save the day on Maz’s planet, and a climactic snowspeeder chase as Rey and Finn attempt to escape Starkiller base.
All of these scenes will be included with the digital HD version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on April 1, as well as the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on April 4.
And if you’re curious, why not peep our first looks at Episode 8 in these new set photos?
