STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Is Just as Good with Emoji

By now, most of us–MOST OF US–have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens a half-dozen times at least. We’re aware of everything that happens in it, laughed at all the jokes, cried at all the things to cry about, and generally looked on in wonder at all the myriad spacey good things. But if you think you’ve seen the movie, or even know the movie by heart, just be aware that you don’t know it at all until you’ve seen the emoji version. Disney recently posted the following short film to their Facebook page, and the result is possibly as delightful as the actual movie.

We’ve got a few major takeaways from this. The first of which is that everything looks more adorable in emoji form. Second, jumping through an iPhone away from TIE Fighters is still pretty scary.

Also, Han and Chewie returning “home” is great regardless of format…or the fact that Rathtars didn’t actually come aboard the Millennium Falcon.

Somehow the emoji version of Starkiller Base destroying all them planets is both less threatening and way less threatening.

Nah, it’s cool, we’re not crying about Kylo Ren picking “betray” from his list of available autofills.

And don’t tell us you wouldn’t immediately fire up the Chewber app to get anywhere you need to go.

Disney’s done these retelling of movies via emoji before (check out their Tangled one and Frozen one) but this is easily the best, and not only because you can get all of the emoji in question on the Star Wars app. Rey force-pulling the saber is just as moving this way, and her fighting over the map to Skywalker is on point. Guess we didn’t have to watch the whole movie, did we?
