In just under a month, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit Blu-ray and digital HD after a dominant box office run. And today, Lucasfilm unleashed the first trailer for The Force Awakens on Blu-ray, and it includes a glimpse of a deleted scene from the film.
There are minor Star Wars spoilers in this paragraph, so scroll down if you still havenât seen The Force Awakens by now. The deleted scene begins at the :48-second mark of the trailer, as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and a contingent of stormtroopers enter the Millennium Falcon while searching for Han Solo. Given the events of the film, it’s easy to understand why that scene didn’t make the final cutâbut that was probably not the first time Kylo Ren was on that ship.
The Blu-ray trailer also includes a few clips from the feature length documentary that chronicles the making of The Force Awakens, as well as a video from “Blueprint of a Battle: The Snow Fight,” which shows the rehearsals for the film’s climactic lightsaber battle.
Lucasfilm also confirmed featurettes about the cast’s first table read, the creation of BB-8 and other creatures within the film, an ILM spotlight on the digital effects, and an extended piece on the music of The Force Awakens with composer John Williams offering his insights on his return to the franchise. Of course, there will also be additional deleted scenes.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits digital HD on Friday, April 1, with the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack following on Tuesday, April 5.
