The Purge: Election Year

While the thought of Donald Trump becoming President of the United States is far more frightening than any horror film, the folks at Blumhouse are gamely trying to take our minds off the madness in Washington with a new TV spot for this summer’s Purge sequel Election Year. Check it out…

It’s a Small World

It's a Small World

Despite the box-office and critical failure of Tomorrowland, you didn’t actually think the folks at Disney weren’t going to turn another of their most beloved theme park attractions into a movie did you? No sir! The It’s a Small World film is still in development, and has now recruited Meet the Fockers screenwriters Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio to draft a screenplay. (My mother will be so pleased.) Jon Turteltaub (the National Treasure movies) is still attached to direct. Expect to hear the ride’s infamous theme music in your head for the rest for the rest of your natural life.

The Jungle Book

And speaking of Disney… The Mouse House has a new TV spot for Jon Favreau’s much-hyped adaptation of the company’s 1967 animated musical take on Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel The Jungle Book; starring Neel Sethi and featuring the voices of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, and Christopher Walken. It lands on April 15. Enjoy…

Alien: Covenant

Alien 3

Finally today… It looks like Fox’s confidence in Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel/Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant is steadily growing. (And why shouldn’t it? The Martian was awesome!) The studio has just moved the film’s release date forward a full two months, from October 6, 2017 to August 4, 2017. Unfortunately for superhero fans, Fox’s release date for its next Marvel mutant spinoff film Gambit, originally announced as October 7, 2016, has been taken off its schedule entirely. Though two “Untitled Fox/Marvel” films have been slotted for October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018. Expect one of these to be the Deadpool sequel.
