There’s no doubt that Paris-based artist Nicolas Amiard was inspired by the star destroyer crashed into the desert in the opening shot of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. Amiard used his skills to create some stunning vistas of iconic cities with various ships from the Star Wars universe crashed into them. (Full gallery below)
Fitting that the trade federation’s Lucrehulk-class battleship crashed in Rio as they were pretty much already dressed for Carnival, while the TIE Fighter crashing in London was probably just a bad parking job for Imperial soldiers (British actors after all), and the X-Wing in Venice is just perfect.
For someone who wants starships to be real more than the average person, these pictures are all too awesome. Seeing them affixed to real life locations only makes me hopeful that at some point – sadly WAY too far in the future – someone will stumble upon an old Star Wars film and actually re-create a working X-Wing and TIE Fighter, probably as something for the kids to play with.
While that’s unattainable for our, and a few dozen future, generations, we can at least pretend to be part of the Star Wars universe with the news – AND AMAZING GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE – of Star Wars Battlefront from our coverage of E3.
