STAR WARS Movie Marathon Coming In December

In 2012, Disney purchased Lucasfilm and announced the first new Star Wars film in a decade. But the post-George Lucas era won’t really begin until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.

Before that happens, fans of the first Star Wars trilogy and the three prequels will get a chance to watch all six original movies and The Force Awakens in a massive marathon. Fangango has listed the Star Wars Marathon Event on its web site, but tickets are currently not available for sale. Presumably that will change on Monday, when the final trailer for The Force Awakens drops and advance tickets for the film go on sale.

According to the poster on Fandango’s site, the Star Wars marathon will feature the films in chronological order. That means that The Phantom Menace will kick off the marathon, with Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of The Jedi leading up to an early screening of The Force Awakens.

ComicBook.com is estimating that the marathon will run 18 hours, including intermissions between films. That’s a large chunk of time for even the most devoted Star Wars fans. And while there’s no official date or start time for the marathon at the moment, it could begin as early as 3 in the morning on December 17 in order to wrap the first six films by the first preview showings of The Force Awakens at 7pm.

Star Wars fans, will you brave the potentially 18 hour marathon to see all of the original movies in theaters again? Feel the Force and share your comments below!
