STAR WARS Meets GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – The Prequel Version

This past Sunday, the internet went crazy for a new Star Wars mash-up trailer from YouTube mash-up expert, The Usual Suspect aka Ross Thompson. The goal of the video was to sell the original Star Wars trilogy as Marvel’s done with their upcoming sci-fi/action/adventure film, Guardians of the Galaxy. Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for the internet to begin begging for more, and today, Thompson delivered on the request with a new version of the video, this time set to the tune of the prequel trilogy. Check it out:

“Jar Jar Binks… will be killed.”

Okay, all kidding aside, it’s interesting to watch how the style of the prequels compares to a comedic tone than the original. Obviously, it appears Thompson spent a little more time picking out the perfect funny moments from the original trilogy to make the mash-up work, but it sort of feels as if, here, anything from the prequels works when matched against the beat of Blue Swede’s “Hooked On A Feeling.”

It would have been nice to get a little more Darth Maul and Qui Gon Jinn in there, but you know what, this fan-piece is pretty damn good, and we’re speaking to Thompson directly when we say: Dude, you better do one of these after Episode VII comes out… better, or we will be sending our Chris Hardwick clone army after you (trust us, we totally have a Chris Hardwick clone army).

What other sci-fi movies should get a Guardians mash-up? Let us know in the comments below.
