STAR WARS Meets Disney’s Animated Films in This Beautiful Art

Mash-ups combining Star Wars and Disney isn’t exactly new territory—we’re aware of that. However, a new batch of illustrations from artist Isaiah Stephens applies the galaxy far, far away to characters from Disney’s animated films in a way I haven’t quite seen before. His style would fit right into a hand-drawn 2D Disney animated film. In short, this art is some of the best Disney meets Star Wars stuff I’ve seen—Disney should hire him to create officially licensed prints because they would fly off shelves.

Stephens is known for his other Disney character mash-up work; he’s responsible for the series featuring Disney characters dressing in costumes from pop culture for Halloween, and let’s not forget the time he put Disney princes into the world of Magic Mike. This Star Wars and Disney project commissioned by Zimbio stands apart from those series though—in my opinion, it’s some of Stephens’s best work.

And it’s extra exciting because he didn’t limit the series to just princesses alone. There is a fantastic illustration with Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, and Aurora dressed as stormtroopers, but you can also spot the Seven Dwarfs, Lilo and Stitch (yes, that one is my favorite), Ursula, Maleficent (she makes a perfect Sith), Beast, and the Evil Queen in disguise. If cosplay of these character combos hasn’t already been done, I expect it to happen soon.
