You Need to Read This Professionally Made STAR WARS Fan Comic

You’ve seen plenty of fan-made posters, short films, and art for the Star Wars universe, but a couple of professional comic writers and artists decided to take things a step further and make full-blown Star Wars fan comics. Made purely for the love of the galaxy far, far away, these are fun little romps that pay tribute to the worlds and characters we all love so damn much. One hundred percent unlicensed, these are Star Wars comics made for the hell of it and that is pretty cool.

There are two stories here, Beyond the Dune Sea and The Hunter’s Bounty, under the banner of Tales from the Far, Far Away. The first is an Obi-Wan tale by writer Tim Daniel (Enormous) and artist Kendall Goode (After Houdini); it’s an imagining of what settling into life undercover on Tatooine might have looked like for Obi-Wan (spoilers: it involves lightsaber action). The second comic is from writer Michael Moreci (Roche Limit: Clandestiny) and artist Morgan Luthi (Snow). The Hunter’s Bounty is a Boba Fett versus Bossk story. What else do you need to know? Two of Star Wars‘ most infamous bounty hunters throwing down? Sign us up!

These comics aren’t as slick and polished as the current crop of Marvel’s Star Wars books on the stands, but that is part of their charm — much like the original film’s used universe aesthetic. They are shining a light on smaller, more worn-in corners of the universe, and they have a look and feel to match.  It’s cool to see to comic professionals making Star Wars comics that are a little darker, a little rougher around the edges. Plus — and this is a big plus — these comics aren’t canon, so these creators can do whatever the hell they want.

Since these are completely and totally unlicensed comics, Moreci and company have just thrown them out into the seas of the internet for any and all to consume. That means they are free, so why not check them out? And if you work for Marvel and/or Disney, hurry up and hire these folks to make some official Star Wars comics for you, cause these things are great!

Check out some preview pages below and download the whole thing for free if you dig it. Free, folks.
