STAR WARS EPISODE IX Details May Be in the POE DAMERON Comic

Now that Solo: A Star Wars Story is out in theaters, fans are looking at the longest gap between Star Wars movies since The Force Awakens hit in 2015. Star Wars: Episode IX isn’t coming until the end of 2019. Currently, the only thing we have to fill the void is Marvel’s Poe Dameron comic, which is the first canon Star Wars story to take place after The Last Jedi. Today’s Nerdist News goes between the panels to pick up some potential details about Episode IX.

Join host and four-color Jedi, Jessica Chobot, as she tackles a question we’ve had since The Force Awakens: is Poe Force sensitive? Poe is no Jedi, but he flies his X-Wing like an extension of himself. It’s practically his superpower, which may be how the rumors of his Force potential got started. The Poe Dameron comic is adding some fuel to speculation by telling us the story of how Poe survived the crash in The Force Awakens. So many lucky breaks happened for Poe that both Rey and Leia suggest he owes his life to the Force. But they mean the Force in general, because the Force surrounds every living being. They aren’t implying that Poe can use the Force.

Additionally, the comic has a few other intriguing touches, including Chewbacca taking on Nien Nunb as his co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Although we’re now curious if all of those porgs on the ship will soon become an invasive species across the universe as the Resistance looks for a new home.

It should also be noted that this is the most time that Rey and Poe have spent speaking to each other since their introduction. The new Star Wars trilogy has largely kept Rey, Poe, and Finn from fully bonding as the new key trio. Going forward, we hope to see more of these three together if the comics and novels will be allowed to fill in the gap between The Last Jedi and Episode IX.

What do you think about the potential Episode IX teases in the Poe Dameron comic? Let’s discuss in the comment section below!
